The Township of North Huron is a lower tier municipality located within Huron County, with the main Municipal Office Building located at 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, Ontario and is accessed by the Public for various services. The site was reported to be originally developed in 1890 and has had several renovations over the years. The building was built as a town hall and theatre. The building is a three-storey structure with a full basement. The Municipal Office is in good condition and is well maintained, however there are existing accessibility and functional challenges that Council wishes to address.

The Township of North Huron is seeking professional assistance to develop a fully engineered design and drawings for a dual accessible ramp, which is required to accommodate existing accessibility challenges. Barrier free access will be an essential part of this project. There are two (2) exterior doors and one interior door that will need to be updated to accommodate AODA compliance. The services provided will also encompass the production of a complete tender. Tenders will be on forms provided by the Township of North Huron.

In addition to the practical aspects of the design, the entrance area should incorporate user friendly, accessible front doors. It is important to Council to retain the heritage, welcoming and friendly feeling of the entrance way. This project includes, but is not limited to the removal, disposal and installation of new stairs, ramps, guardrails, and handrails.
